I blame my Grandpa Jim for all of this!

No, really! Because he’s the reason I grew up with a camera in my hand—and the reason photography became so much more to me than just taking pretty pictures.

Fast forward to 2019. I was back in school becoming an X-ray tech, needed some extra money, and apparently thought, “You know what sounds reasonable? Starting an entire photography business.” 😂

So on May 4, 2019, K. Rae Bell Photography was born.

What started as a little side hustle somehow turned into this wild, beautiful, slightly feral dream that I genuinely can’t imagine my life without.

Since then, I’ve photographed weddings, love stories, hot women, growing bellies, brand-new babies, families, seniors, and all the beautifully chaotic chapters in between. I’ve grown a LOT, changed my mind approximately 47,000 times, learned some things the hard way, and somehow just keep dreaming BIGGER.

The girl behind the camera?

Picture an ADHD brain with 47 tabs open, Virgo-level perfectionism, an irresponsible amount of caffeine, a slight cussing problem, a middle finger (or two) with a mind of its own, and approximately 847 ideas I absolutely do not have time for. Add in three insane pups, a very patient husband (who doubles as my favorite second shooter), a firm commitment to maintaining my Cool Auntie KeKe status to my nieces + nephews, a permanently half-packed suitcase, a camera always within reach, and a passport that could use a few more stamps—and you’ve pretty much got me!

Equal parts chaos, perfectionism, wanderlust, questionable language + hand gestures, and “okay wait…hear me out.” 😂

But if there’s ONE thing I want you to know before getting in front of my camera, it’s this: You do not have to change yourself to deserve to be photographed.

As a formerly plus-size woman, I know what it feels like to pick yourself apart in photos. That’s why making you feel comfortable, confident, and like YOURSELF in front of my camera means so damn much to me.

We’re moving. We’re laughing. We’re embracing the chaos. I’m fixing the awkward hands, hyping you the hell up, and capturing the real you—not some stiff, perfectly posed version.

Because photography isn’t just my job. It’s the thing I can’t stop dreaming about!
